FAQs

The Wedding Day

  1. What do I wear for Black Tie? A floor-length evening gown or formal jumpsuit in any color (besides white/ivory) would be appropriate. For those not wearing a dress, a tuxedo or dark colored suit and tie would be appropriate.
  2. Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors? The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception will all be indoors with air conditioning.
  3. What time should I arrive at your wedding ceremony? Guests should plan to arrive at 6pm as the ceremony will start promptly at 6:30pm. Guests will not be allowed to enjoy the ceremony if arriving later than this.
  4. Am I allowed to take photos during your ceremony? We ask you do not take any photos during our ceremony. We want our guests to be present with us for this special moment, and we have an amazing photographer who will definitely get better photos than your iPhone will. :)
  5. Can I bring a plus one? If you are able to bring a plus one, it will be indicated on your invitation and when you RSVP.
  6. Am I allowed to bring my child/children? We are not having any children at our wedding. Parents, think of this as a special date night!

The Wedding Weekend

  1. What is the weather like in NYC in August? It will likely be hot and humid, and there is always the chance of summer rain. Whenever exploring NYC, we always recommend comfortable shoes and clothing, as most travel will take place on foot!
  2. Where should I stay? We have room blocks at both the JW Marriott Essex House, where the wedding will be held, and the Dream Midtown, which is walking distance to Essex House. Please refer to the Travel tab for additional information on booking.
  3. How do I get around the city? The subway is the easiest way to get around. We recommend you download the app Citymapper to help you use the subway throughout the weekend.
  4. Do you have any recommendations of things to do while I am in town? Always! NYC has so much to offer. Both of the hotels we have room blocks for are walking distance to Central Park and Times Square. If you want to see a Broadway show, we recommend Wicked, Hamilton, and Six the Musical.
  5. Where should I eat? Please see the table titled "Food in NYC"
  6. Will there be other events to attend on the wedding weekend? We will be hosting a happy hour on Friday night, the evening before the wedding day, where we will have light bites and drinks. Please refer to the Events tab for more information.
